Film Festival
SFKAFF: San Francisco Korean American Film Festival
The KIMA festivals embody a unique theme that unites the Korean Cinema Industry with rising Korean filmmakers here in America. Bringing together the knowledge and experiences of Koreans worldwide, the KIMA Festival hopes to build a network of filmmakers across seas, while enchanting audiences with a diversity of stories. Every festival, our program interlaces film screenings with academic seminars and symposiums, dealing with Korean cinema industry and Korean American progress in the mainstream US media.
Started in 2001 by a band of students from San Francisco State University and Professor Chul Heo of the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts department of San Francisco State University, this rapidly growing event has sprouted from a student made project to a multi-venue, multi-university, Bay Area exhibition.
Korea Studies in Media arts will continue to create film and media festivals so long as the unadulterated passion for Korean media and filmmaking endures throughout our community.
